Addictions Therapist

I saw this story somewhere and was wondering if it were true.

I have had 3 messed up surgeries! I am now addicted to Lortab. I have to take more than prescribed and am at my wits end. I have pain all the time. Now it takes more to relieve pain. I feel like I am so screwed. I don’t want to mention this to my doctor b/c I do need something for this severe bone pain! Is there another drug? I have heard some do better on methadone. Is this true? Please help me. I feel like I am losing my mind.

My husband has had an addiction to ponography since very young. He states that he has greatly improved – from 4 to 5 times a day to once a month. I found out about his addiction after we got married. I not too long ago found out that on one of his most recent business trips, he masturbated while looking at ponography on the Internet. I asked him why he masturbated. He told me that the women turn him on.
I am experiencing a wide array of emotions including: confusion, anger, sexual frustration, sadness, shock, etc. I love my husband very much; however, his addiction really bothers me. I have told him that it hurts me a great deal, also him and our marriage whenever he looks at other naked females on the Internet and masturbates. I have also told him to get help and talk to his accountability partner. He stated that he would get help but has not yet.
I have also asked him why he masturbates to other naked women on the Internet. His answer is that I am not there.
Help!!!!

I want to apply to a Counseling Psychology Phd Program but I’m not sure if I could with an addiction counseling Masters, would it be possible?

I agree with the theory that people just trade one addiction for another so how can I get addicted to exercise?

I was just wondering about this since many smokers I know are also heavy drinkers. Are the two habits interrelated? Would undergoing treatment for alcoholism also banish the individual’s habit for smoking?

Currently, I have to see my psych twice a week and my therapist once a week. Is this normal?

I need to know what type of training or degrees I need to become a developmental therapist in IL.?

If you’re single and have many lovers…this is normal. If you’re married and have many lovers, then you’re a sex addict and need therapy?

Is that right?

All day and everyday I think about having sex, but my husband tell me I think about it to much. My husband and my sister keep telling me that I’m a sex addict, or say that I’m a addicted to sex. I don’t think so. So, what are the system of a person being a sex addict or addicted to sex?

Can anyone in mental health or drug addiction counseling give me examples of how an addict might use minimization, projection, intellectualizing, diversion, and hostility?

Im a 14 year old boy who has a serious addiction to porn and masturbation.

My dad’s an alcoholic, and we really need to get him treated. He has already consented, we just don’t know how we’re going to find the right treatment center for him. Any ideas?

I no longer have pain with day to day activities, but I have severe cracking and instability, and bad pain if I do something like push-ups. I was told to do physical therapy exercises to help restructure and strengthen my shoulder.

How often should I be doing these exercises? Is there anything else I should do to help my recovery (it has been over a month with only little improvement)?
