Yes you need PT and you need to keep with the exercises even after you are done with the appts. I did not have a knee replacement but I had major open knee surgery and as soon as my staples where out the doc gave me range of motion exercises to do until I cant start PT (cant start until the tibia that he had to break is healed up and I can bear weight on the leg).

Prompt follow up with physiotherapy is crucial to success after a knee replacement. If you don’t get the proper therapy in time it can lead to permanent reduction in joint mobility and range of motion. Sounds like you are already having reduced abiliies and need to get started as soon as possble. It is worth the discomfort.

It’s critical that you do physical therapy after joint replacement. Yes, it will be painful, but in the long run you will feel much better. You need to get started as soon as possible. Do not hesitate.
