A friend of mine is contemplating taking custody of her newborn grandson who was born to a heroine addicted mother. I have extensive experience with heroine addicted adults and few if any, ever get off methadone. What are the short term and long term implications of caring for a methadone baby? Should the grandmother have access to Narcan?

I have a friend who was an alcohol addict. She stopped 2 days ago and I think she’s experiencing withdrawal symptoms. She’s been having a hard time sleeping, and when she does sleep, she gets bad dreams. She experiences nausea a lot and has clammy hands. I told her she should get herself treated, but she doesn’t want to. Is this normal?

Any recovering addicts out there? My boyfriend was an addict before rehab , and he has changed into a violent human being.. heroin shuts down emotions, and I’ve heard makes erotic sexual experiences more intense.. or is it the other way around?
