I know that dual diagnosis is harder to treat than just substance abuse disorder. This is why I want to make sure that my cousin gets to be treated at a treatment center wherein the people are adept at dealing with patients that are also dealing with psychological problems on top of their substance abuse disorder. I’m especially interested in finding one that administers buprenorphine instead of methadone. I’ve heard that buprenorphine is better and that patients will be able to get off the medication easily, as opposed to methadone that usually becomes a life long regimen.

I have to do this for my brother, who is currently suffering from heroin addiction. Our parents are both away, and I’d hate to give them the news. So now I have to take care of everything, including getting my brother treated. I plan on telling my parents this, but not now. I don’t want them to have to worry. My brother says it’s best not to tell them now too. He says to wait until he’s on the way to recovery. Can anybody tell me how I’m going to find drug rehabs?
