I’ve been confused about my future music career, because I’m not sure whether I want to become a concert pianist or a music therapist. I’m also hoping to compose on the side. Is it possible to study both performance and music therapy in college at the same time? Or should I just choose the one that allows me to have some time left to compose?

You hear that first song and you can’t seem to let it go when you turn off the radio. You grow an addiction to the music, what seems to have some people screaming when their favorite song comes on. I want to know. What causes people to grow an addiction to music, to want to live for music and listen to it every second?

I currently hold a bachelor of science in Biology, but I have a lifelong background in music, specifically vocal music. I am a High School Junior currently looking into my future. I love both Psychology and music and recently discovered the field of Music Therapy. I was planning on getting a doctorate in Psychology before I discovered Music Therapy, and I’m wondering if could somehow study both or get my doctorate and then go into Music Therapy.
