Do I have a normal patient-therapist relationship with my therapist?

03 Jun

I have been seeing a therapist for almost a year now. She means so much to me and has been very helpful. Some of my friends have said they think I have an unusual relationship with my therapist.. i.e. She once made me a bag lunch and has driven me to the train station which I use to get home. She has openly told me much about her own personal life: how many children she has, their names, ages, what her husband does for a living, etc. There are many more things she has told me as well. I’m completely okay with all of this (I often ask her certain questions) and believe it helps me feel on a more even ground with her. However, I was just wondering if most people feel they have such a close relationship with their therapist?

I’ve been in therapy for seriouis traumas from childhood that I never dealt with. I’ve been crying a lot during this process. Sometimes while at work or driving tears will begin pouring down when these feelings and memories come up that I’ve been dealing with in counseling. I just seem like I”m crying all the time. Is this normal?

Is it normal for a heroin addict to disappear for months and not contact anyone..?

12 Apr

even though they are safe? my sister hasnt been seen by anyone since august… she doesnt contact us…but even her druggie partner in crime hasnt heard from her.. I’m worried she’s dead either dumped somewhere or an unidentified body in the morgue… shes never disappeared before….
we all know we need to report her but i think we dont cause we think she is dead…… my cousin was missing for 5mos w/her two kids and when she finally got reported..they were all dead. my uncle got reported and they found he’d been in the morgue for weeks.. maybe we arent ready..

maybe that little *(^%$$$ is out partying with her fellow junkies and just doesnt give care… last time she was seen was her 1yr olds birthday party.. sad… or maybe shes just ashamed…….

Is it normal to still not be sure of what I want to be “when I grow up”?

10 Apr

Hey yall, I am 28 and still struggle with what my purpose in life is. Like what should I be? I have an associates degree in graphic design but don’t really want to pursue that career. I have overcome a lot in my life, an eating disorder, drug addiction and the recent death of my dad. (who I was very close to). All of those obstacles set me back a bit. I have been in recovery for 20 months now and finally have a clear mind but I just don’t know what to do. I really don’t want to get a job that I dread going to everyday. I just want to be happy. I want a job that consists of helping people in some way. I really don’t want to go back to school. Any of you ever feel like this?

Drug Addict, Drunk Or Just Normal?

09 Feb

My friend is dating this guy who has to smoke 1 marijuanna joint daily and downs about a case a beer every weekend. On all outward appearances – he seems to be a really nice and smart guy – he has a nice job, truck, his own place and he treats her really nice. Not to mention he has 2 small kids with someone. However, the drug and alcohol are an issue for me. I’m trying to make her see it’s not normal. What do you think? My friend is very successful – she has her own business, built a huge house in the suburbs, drives a luxury car and makes alot of money. I mean the answer is obvious. Does this guy need to go to rehab or am I just over reacting.

Awful Normal

10 Jan

Product Description
Winner Grand Prize, Documentary – Cinequest Film Festival Celesta Davis has been on both Oprah and Primetime Live to talk about Awful Normal Celesta and Karen Davis grew up in a loving family. They shared many wonderful childhood moments and, at the time, thought it all was normal. But when Karen and Celesta were molested in 1978, little was being done about sexual abuse. Their parents’ lack of action was neither questioned nor challenged, including years of continued social contact with the perpetrator, his wife and their two young children. This made for some not-so-normal memories. Twenty-five years later, feeling unresolved, they begin their quest to find the man who took advantage of their innocence and to ask him something that has haunted them for almost their entire life: “Why?” Director Davis takes one of the most personal journeys to tell her and her family’s remarkable story, exploring the inner depths of a woman’s psyche, which … More >>

My Moms Addicted To Meth. Is It Normal To Have Anxiety When People Around Me Smoke Pot?

08 Jan

My mom has been addicted to meth for 5 years now. It ruined my family and my parents divorced over that and other issues. My boyfriend smoked before he was with me, but stopped when we got together. He did three times (with me knowing) while we were together, but I began to hyper ventilate and almost have an anxiety attack .
Is it normal for children of drug addicted parents to go through such anxiety over a small thing like pot?
