Should I stay with a heroin addict who is in rehab after relapsing?

I’ve been with him for 10 yrs and we recently got married. He’s been on heroin for 3 yrs now. He came forward a year ago and wanted help so did cold turkey. He was clean for 3 months and started using again behind everyone’s back. We got married thinking he is clean. He pawned almost everything in our house, jewelry, laptop, brand new xbox, dvd player, brand new 52″ tv and he was on the run for two days. He finally came home and I found out he even sold his mercedes radio and navigation system. I am torn apart. I have nothing left inside of me. He wants help and will be going to rehab and tells me he loves me and will fix everything. He is currently staying at his parents house. I need advice on what to do. I know I deserve better but I love and care about him a lot but suffered way too much to forgive him. Help!!!!!!

My parents beg me to stay away from him and to forget him and move on with my life.

What stages lead to substance addiction, a condition when one already needs immediate drug rehab programs?

My friend said that it is fine to try illegal drugs as long as you will not continuously use it. This is why he keeps on persuading me to puff some marijuana. However, I told him that a small amount of illicit substance would be very harmful for the body. Besides, it will lead to even bigger problem and greater addiction. I want to convince my friend using factual info, but I am not so sure about the stages of substance use. Can you help me?

Do you think tobacco companies should open rehab centers for those addicted who want to quit smoking?

Millions of people are hopelessly addicted and want to quit but can’t. The addiction is so bad that even all their friends dying from lung cancer doesn’t stop them. Many people near death still have to light up to the very end.

I smoke about 2 packs a day. If there was a rehab center for stopping smoking, I would definitely check in. What are your thoughts on this?

I am considering going to school for a career in this field but have heard that the best counselors were once addicts themselves and that the patients have trouble relating to someone who has never been an addict themselves

I have tried rehab before and stayed clean but always relapsed , my circle of friends/acquaintances know me as a user , I want to start over and I am 34. Crystal meth is my drug of choice.

What are some needs/shortfalls in drug addiction rehab or supervised injection sites?

this is for a school project and our group wants to perhaps raise money for what is really lacking in the centres that assist drug addicts
but we dont even know what is most needed, and i cant find any site that really tells yuu this
were not sure if were going to fundraise, and if we do would the money be for rehab or injection sites or whatever helps drug addiction
but we could really use the info first, and i might just personally go to one myself to see

Can a person who was a cocaine addict drink alcohol occasionally after rehab?

My husband is getting out of a 6 month drug rehab program on Friday. I want to know if it is ok to allow him to drink alcohol or not. Alcohol was never a problem foe him, cocaine was his only addiction. I do not drink very often. I will maybe have 1 or 2 drinks every couple of months. I just wanted to know if I should ban all alcohol from our home? I just need some guidance on this one. Serious, helpful answers please.

I am a senior student and is dreaming of becoming a counselor someday. I’ve heard from our teacher that counseling is an essential part of drug rehabilitation programs. I want to know more about it to become a good counselor someday. I will help the victims of illegal drugs by giving them pieces of advice.

I’ve learned that there are various kinds of drug intervention programs depending on the person’s stage of addiction. As much as I don’t want to admit it, but a member of our family has to undergo one of these interventions programs. Please help me.

Is there such a thing as affordable rehab for heroin addicts?

I have a brother who is a serious heroin addict and am compelled to get him some help before he dies on the streets, he has no insurance and I can pay some but not much for his treatment.
Thanks for the responses so far, I think he would go to treatment if it was available, he’s on the streets in California, I’m in Texas, he’s HIV+ and has a new born baby that’s not + but in Foster Care and the mother still wants be a part of his life but she’s in rehab for 6 months. If I can find a treatment center I will drive there, find him and admit him.
