When it comes to things like mood disorders, or suicidal ideaology, or addictions, etc… why ask people on the net? Most of the people are just on here reading these questions waiting to respond with A**hole answers, which aren’t gonna make you feel any better about your situation, it’ll actually probably make you feel worse. Don’t get me wrong, I applaud anyone who finally has the strength to admit that they see something may be a little “off”, that takes courage, but this isn’t the place that’s best for you. For addictions, even gambling and shopping (I’ve seen both), there is help out there- addiction specialists. They’re not just for drugs/alcohol. Gambler’s anonymous comes to mind readily. If you are thinking of suicide, please seek out the help of a trusted friend, family member, school counselor, employee program (a lot of jobs have people for employees to speak to now), therapist, or community center, if you don’t have insurance. e-mail me if you want as well I have exp. peace

Serious answers, please. Can a family therapist really help with a relationship between my parents and I?
I’m in my 30’s and I have a very hard time communicating with my parents for some reason. I’m considering family therapy, but I’m skeptic – I don’t want to make things worse. Any experiences / ideas? Thanks for any help:D
Addicted to the internet- how do I know and is it serious?
I’ve had a rough year social and have turned to the internet for support. Is it possible to be addicted and if it is, how can I know and is it serious enough to need help?
On average, how many cigarettes does a serious addict go through in a day?
I’m writing a story about a chick with serious issues and I’m making her a serious smoker. But I really don’t know what is a reasonable number of packs or cigarettes I should say she goes through in a day. My guess is twenty cigarettes but I don’t know if that’s dramatic enough or overly dramatic.
Can anyone share their experiences with dating someone with a serious drug addiction?
I dated a guy for over 2 1/2 years whom had been battling addiction to drugs. We were in a long-distance relationship, so I was not aware of how seriously he was involved & the extent of his using. As far as I knew, he was receiving psychiatric treatment & counselling and participating in a methadone program. Apparently he had an entire “secret” life I knew nothing about. I can only imagine the things he might have been involved in.
Serious ?..How to help a heroin addict detox without suffering from withdrawal symptoms.outside of rehab.?
Withdrawing from heroin without treatment cant be deadly, but how can someone withdraw or stop using without going into a rehab? One alternative i here of is Methodone, which in my opinion is a substitution.
But having witnessed the severe pain of withdrawal. I don’t think it can be done without some type of short term medical treatment. How can you help someone, with no insurance and can not go into a rehab? Is there some short term medical solution one can do privately in their own home? Is there a way to detox safely at home?
This person is very dear to me and does not apear to be using to get high, but mostly just to be able to function. (literely can not get out of bed in the morning without sniffing a bag)
This is a terrible predicament but nonetheless a serious and deadly one.
*POLL: If you had a parent who was a SERIOUS ALCOHOLIC, which would you be most likely to do…?
A.) Be an ENABLER to them and provide them with anything they may need to stay “well” including alcohol, rides to the store, money, lying/making excuses for them, and in a sense “parenting” THEM while YOUR life falls apart. You do this to “keep the peace” and HOPE that soon they will “hit rock bottom” and seek help.
OR
B.) Show them TOUGH LOVE by NOT enabling them; letting them deal with the addiction ALL ALONE without ANY help from you, EVEN if it means they will be homeless until they hit “rock bottom” and ASK for help.
OR
C.) Seek immediate professional help for them and don’t take “NO” for an answer NO MATTER WHAT!
*Yeah, I’ve been watching too much “Intervention!” LOL! =)
